breakup euphemisms

• I met someone else.
• I love you but I'm not IN love with you.
• We should just be friends.
• I need some time to find myself.

Instead of:

• I was just dating you because I couldn't find anyone better.
• I don't love you.
• I don't ever want to talk to you again.
• You bore me.

I understand the feeling that if you're doing something "wrong", you want to protect yourself from blame. But breaking up with someone isn't "wrong", even if it hurts. There is a similar motivation behind terms like "restructuring" or "peace-keeping forces". While I believe that break-ups, lay-offs, and wars are sometimes necessary... we should not be hypocritcal about it and cloud what we're doing with feel-good nonsense.
