anarchismThe problem with anarchism is that we've already tried it. At some point in human history, there was no government. And humans freely decided that they wanted one. The assumption that if we erased all government and started over, we would decide differently, is not impossible but needs some strong support. One question I'd like to see answered is how anarchists deal with The Commons, as everything is commons. The point of property is to limit the damage one person can cause without unduly restricting freedom; they can only ruin/lose/use their own property without repercussions. One answer is social pressure, but this is simply our current legal system in a poorly-defined form. Poorly-defined means less free, because freedom is to act with full knowledge of the consequences of ones actions (to have control over ones future). |
