Ursula LeGuin--Earthsea

Author: Ursula K. LeGuin Source: Mom

These four books each have a very different feel, but I still think they hang together into a cohesive whole. The stories are entertaining and still thought-provoking. The emotions and characters are incredibly deep, and I personally agree with a lot of the philosophical messages.

One thing I love about LeGuin is her writing is writing foremost and fantasy second. She never sacrifices anything just for the sake of a clever idea -- something I think Asimov does -- but rather all the "fantasy" aspects are carefully chosen to enhance the core message of the story. Hers are among the only fantasy books I can stand, with real literary merit.

If my game sinks or swims according to its AI, C is a suboptimal choice. If my
game sinks or swims because it calls a foreign API, the year is 1980.
