31.07Well, here's the skydiving video. Unfortunately they screwed up mastering the video so there's no sound, but here's the transcript: OH MY GOD, THIS IS AWESOME! The best part was the first few seconds, when you can see the plane falling away from you, you're just tumbling weightless with hardly any wind, suspended in an infinite volume of blue, blue sky. Then you start to reach terminal velocity and the air is really loud and it's more or less like standing in front of a huge fan. The parachute opening was smoother than I expected -- it's not so much a jolt as the shock of suddenly feeling gravity again, and you feel that until you land, like some giant's dangling you in the air. Overall, it was comparable to a really good roller coaster ride. Not better than sex or anything. I'd do it again someday, particularly to try doing it alone (or rather, not strapped to somebody else's front), but I'm not addicted. |
