16.07Witness the strange evolution of language. Yahoo! has installed a filter on incoming mail which is supposed to protect users from malicious browser scripts. One of the odder symptoms of this filter is the translation of "medieval" to "medireview". What's really creepy is that, as seen in the above Google search, a bunch of non-English speakers have been fooled into thinking this is a real word. The etymologists of the future will really have their hands full with this one. |
